Clivia pronounced kly-ve-a named after the Duchess of Northumberland, member of the Clive family must be one of the most spectacular members of the Amaryllidaceae family. The genus comprises of five species,

They appear to enjoy having their roots restricted provided they are well fed. C. miniata has all year round interest with its thick, dark green and strap-shaped leaves, huge rounded umbeis of either orange, red, cream or yellow flowers followed by stunning bright red berries or creamlyellow coloured berries in the case of
the yellow-flowered form C. miniata var. citrina. At present we have a few for sale.
